Print out The Story of Chanukah - to tell to young children, and a few weeks before Chanukah tell it once all the way through. The following week ask the children if they remember the story, then tell it again, this time letting them join in the repeated refrains, and perhaps some actions too.
Key Stage 1 The weeks before chanukah - Learning the brachot for lighting the chanukiah Print the sheet Chanukah brachot, one for each child or for sharing. Ask:

*Which brachah refers to the lighting? Which word/s tells them this?

*Which brachah refers to the miracles? Which word/s tells them this?

*Which brachah is only said on the first night?

Learn the brachot and the order they are said.
(These sheets have the name of Hashem on - please remember to collect them at the end of the session)
