The Jewish Studies Curriculum Partnership (JSCP) is the curriculum development arm of the AJE and is involved in creating curriculum and resource materials for the Jewish Primary School sector.
JSCP was conceived in order to raise the status of Jewish Studies by designing a curriculum which would match the quality and style of the National Curriculum and provide teachers with a well planned and well resourced learning and assesment programme. JSCP is working with its partners to develop a National Jewish Curriculum (NJC).
There are 5 US Jewish Primary Schools and 2 US Jewish Secondary Schools in the state system which fall under the aegis of the Chief Rabbi.
UK State Schools follow the requirements of the National Curriculum (NC) in all subjects.
Schools operate in 6 Key Stages:
● Foundation Stage 1 and 2 (3 to 5)
● Key Stage 1 (5 to 7)
● Key Stage 2 (7 to 11)
● Key Stage 3 (11 to 13)
● Key Stage 4 (14 to 16)
● Key Stage 5 (16 to 18)
Independent Schools may choose to follow the National Curriculum.
Jewish Schools catering exclusively for pupils with special educational needs are independent.
