Shalom and welcome to JEDmail 42!
With only a few days left to the end of term, we are all looking forward to a well earned break.
Those who attended the first Jewish Studies Teachers Conference gained an incredible amount of inspiration and positive input to their teaching. The array of speakers was tremendous and all feedback terrific. A slightly longer review is found below.
If you are already booked for the Early Years Conference then you are next in line to experience what is rapidly becoming a real forte for the Agency. What else would you like in terms of support of this calibre?
It is only proper that these events take place either side of Chanukah, being the season of re-dedication. This is an opportunity to see that teaching, like the miracles of Chanukah, is sometimes about the big, noisy and obvious things like winning a battle, but also about the quiet and often unseen events.
The Menorah was lit at all because someone bothered to look for some oil and it stayed lit for longer than it should have. In the same way, a single child's attention span is lengthened by an inspiring and dedicated teacher, who bothers to look for the way to get through to this individual as a person.
Just as the Menorah continues to be a source of inspiration to us today, the child will (please G-d) grow up to be a parent and grandparent and pass that flame on to future generations, all because somebody took the time to light it.
Wishing you a relaxing break and Chanukah Sameach
