The United Synagogue

Volunteers

The Community Division is committed to enabling and supporting synagogue communities to become warm and caring environments that provide a range of activities, catering for the needs of all their members.

The Volunteers’ Project, which is an integral part of the Community Divison, promotes and celebrates volunteering in United Synagogue communities. The idea of ‘chesed’ is central to Jewish life and by volunteering, a mitzvah is fulfilled.

Volunteers are very special people who offer their time to our community. They fulfil a number of vital roles within our synagogues and, it is true to say, without their help our communities would not function nor be able to offer the variety of programmes that many do. It is important that the work of the volunteers is valued. The Volunteers’ Project does this by offering training, support and motivation.

Here are some of the ways you can volunteer within your synagogue community:

● Adult Education
● Administration
● Board of Management
● Children Services
● Community Care Group
● Community Guild
● Hospital and Prison Visititation
● Library
● Music
● Nursery
● Practical Help
● Religious
● Security
● Teaching
● Youth Activities
