KASHRUT DIVISION CELEBRATES KOSHER FACEBOOK

The United Synagogue's Kashrut Division is celebrating as KLBD Kosher Direct, the largest Facebook group in the world dedicated to providing information about kosher products to the Jewish public, gained its 1000th member.

17-year-old Tilly Rosenblatt from Liverpool became the 1000th person to join the group which was set up in July 2007 with the aim to keep people constantly updated with the latest news and developments relating to kosher products. The Facebook page is designed so that members of the group can ask questions about the status of products they are unsure of and receive regular messages with Kashrut news including new KLBD certified restaurants, newly approved products and Kashrut alerts.

KLBD Kosher Direct administrator, Rosalind Coten, commented: "Kosher Direct has attracted many people who would not otherwise contact the Kashrut Division with product enquiries. We provide quick and easy access to kashrut information at any time, answering questions even outside normal office hours. The fast growth of the group is a testimony to the popularity of the service we offer."
